secret to forever (2022)

secret to forever is a 3-channel video installation with audio. These videos utilize animation, digital drawings, live-action, and the art of green screening, where I am actively seen applying green paint to my partner’s face, and vice-versa. Accompanying the visuals is a poetic audio piece, written by myself. Filmed in a bush in Saskatoon, this naturalized area is significant because of its close proximity to the first home my partner and I ever lived together. Furthermore, the natural terrain and forestation featured in these videos forever reminds me of my late maternal grandfather, and the wise, playful sense of adventure that he instilled on my being while growing up in North Central Saskatchewan. For every time I am near to, or in a bush like those in my videos, I feel as if he is there with me; forever guiding me.
